The circus is coming to town! Political clowns will make you laugh with their verbal acrobatics and clever tricks! Trained migrants from exotic countries dance the polka! Single mothers balance on barbed wire! Soldiers juggle with grenades! Billionaires swing on trapezes above human pyramids! And you can laugh yourself to tears for just a few Euros!
An international collective of activists and artists, with an innovative mix of engagement, humor and circus skills, seeks to answer the question: Can circus bring just a short escape from a harsh reality, or can it sometimes change the world?
The project revives the tradition of politically engaged and socially critical theatre art in public space, which goes back to the engaged movements of the 60s, artistic manifestations from the beginning of the last century to the mediaeval itinerary acting families and all the way back to the ancient Greeks. With a blend of circus, clowning, physical theatre and interactive elements, we address the audience and playfully reveal all the grotesqueness of the current social situation and political manipulations that we face every day.
