Concert by Januš Aleš Luznar

The Slovenian artist Januš Aleš Luznar, also known by his nickname Yanoosh, builds a captivating bridge between the traditions of crafting acoustic instruments from around the world and modern electronic sound design. His work explores the intersection of organic resonance and contemporary sound, transforming the concert experience into an immersive, almost ritualistic sonic world. Starting from his early roots in downtempo, trip-hop and electronic music, Luznar has gradually evolved his music toward a more ambient, meditative soundscape that seeks to transcend the boundaries of his personal expression. He uses music as a form of healing and energetic balance, inviting listeners into states of inner silence, openness and connection. 

At the heart of Luznar’s sound is a collection of hand crafted acoustic instruments he builds from scratch. His own interpretations of ancient lyres, African harps, frame drums, kalimbas, tubular bells, etc., with tunings that reach far beyond their original cultural origins. These instruments form the foundation of his performances in which hand shaped acoustic textures intertwine with live manipulation of electronic effects and multi-layered vocalisations.

Januš’s concerts are partly improvised, created in real time through the layering of loops, vocal strata and dynamic live sound processing. His technically self-sufficient setup allows him to build structures and melodic atmospheres on the spot and respond intuitively to the space and the audience. The result is a continuous, hypnotic flow of sound and emotion, part concert, part ceremony. Janus communicates through a sonic language of pure feeling. His performances are simultaneously meditative and primal, inviting the listener into a shared experience of transformation. It is a journey through sound as energy, a reconnection of ancient musical roots with the freedom of contemporary experimentation, and a reminder that music can heal, elevate and transcend.
